This Sunday, Burriana turned pink for the 10th edition of the Women's Race against breast cancer. This event, which has become an unmissable fixture in the capital of La Plana Baixa, is supported by the Municipal Sports Service (SME), the involvement of the municipal corporation of the Burriana City Council, and the sponsorship of various entities and companies.
As a new feature this year, the race marks its tenth anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, local artist Juan Poré designed the official poster and t-shirt. The artwork depicts a female figure with white vertical lines, from which butterflies and floral shapes emerge, symbolizing each of the ten years of the solidarity march. According to the artist, the piece represents "a decade of shared steps, collective effort, and living hope," making the image an icon of overcoming, struggle, awareness, and social commitment.
Organizers, sponsors, and participants confirmed that the goal of gathering over 1000 people was achieved, thereby raising awareness of the daily fight against breast cancer. Every step taken in the race contributes to research, the search for new solutions and treatments, and the hope of millions of affected individuals. The event was attended by the mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer Daudí, the councilor for Health, Isabel Monfort, the councilor for Sports, Fran Capdevila, along with other members of the municipal corporation and authorities.
The jewelry company Pérez González S.L., owner of the brand Le Cadó, joined forces 16 years ago with the initiative of Dña. Elvira Monferrer Daudí. Based on her own experience as a patient, she decided to lead the fundraising efforts for breast cancer research, establishing in Burriana the first national private foundation, non-scientific and specific to breast cancer. The Le Cadó Foundation also provides emotional support to affected women and their families, organizes educational workshops, and fosters community support networks.
