Burriana is already filled with the scent of natural flowers as the traditional Cruces de Mayo are installed, featuring 38 'ephemeral gardens' that adorn the streets, solidifying its status as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival.

The city of Burriana has begun preparations for the official Cruces de Mayo celebration, scheduled for May 15, 16, and 17. A total of 38 monuments, both large and small, are starting to decorate the streets, marking an edition that reaffirms its status as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival. Operational work commenced on Tuesday, May 12, with initial traffic diversions, and an institutional visit took place this Friday.
The visit included the Mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer, the Councilor for Fallas, Paloma Boix, the Fallas Queens 2026, Laura Sendra and Ana Olivas, and other members of the municipal corporation, who observed the traditional placement of the crosses.
As a major novelty this year, the Burriana City Council has increased the budget allocated to the Cruces de Mayo prizes by 3,000 euros. For the first time, direct cash prizes will be awarded: 450 euros for the best large cross and 250 euros for the best children's cross. Additionally, prize money for the large categories has been boosted by 1,300 euros and for the children's categories by 1,000 euros, recognizing the artisanal effort of the falleros.
For the third consecutive year, the celebration has been moved to the third weekend of May to avoid the high flower prices during the Mother's Day season. This allows the 19 fallas commissions to use higher quality carnations without exceeding their budgets. Regarding safety, the monuments will remain in the same locations as the previous Fallas 2026, following the emergency plan coordinated with the Local Police.

"The Cruces de Mayo are a unique artistic manifestation that unites the effort of the commissions, the fallas tradition, and our local identity through the carnation."

Paloma Boix · Councilor for Fallas

"This celebration is a visual spectacle that already transcends our borders and makes Burriana a benchmark for floral art and Valencian popular culture."

Paloma Boix · Councilor for Fallas

"With the creation of these new economic prizes, we want to tangibly recognize the immense effort and dedication of the commissions."
