The Burriana City Council organizes this cultural event with the aim of bringing reading closer to residents and visitors, turning the town into a literary meeting point. The fair will feature stalls from bookstores and publishers, book presentations, activities for children, and performing arts proposals for all ages.
The presence of writer Eloy Moreno, who will participate in a literary gathering on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 PM, is one of the main attractions. His participation consolidates the fair as one of the most anticipated cultural events of spring in the town.
The official inauguration of the fair will be on Thursday, May 14 at 5:00 PM, although activities will begin in the morning with the theatrical performance Els viatges d’Àlex i Elena at the Teatre Payà, aimed at school audiences. The first day will also include presentations by Pedro Cifuentes and Bibiana Collado.
On Friday, May 15, the fair will continue with new releases from Amadeo Peris and María Belén Mezcua. Additionally, the Teatre Payà will host the conference “Educating in Adolescence,” led by Nerea López and Pedro García Aguado, a talk that will address the challenges of education during this stage.
During the weekend, the fair will extend its hours from 10:00 AM. On Saturday, the re-edition of the compilation of Cartes Pobles de Borriana, published by the council itself, will be presented. The program will be completed with the Royal Circ show and book signings by authors such as Francisco Urbano, Carlos Millares, and Sergio Rico. On Sunday, May 17, the fair will close with presentations by Luis Aleixandre and Laura Sebastiá.
Children will have their own space with hands-on activities on Thursday and Friday afternoons at 5:00 PM, designed to stimulate creativity and encourage their first contact with the world of books. With this proposal, the fair aims to be much more than just a sales space: it seeks to become a cultural, family, and participatory experience.
“"The goal is for Plaça de la Mercé to be a meeting point where Burriana residents, from the youngest to the oldest, enjoy the pleasure of opening a book and discovering new stories."
The Councilor for Cultural and Festive Programming, Paloma Boix, highlighted the importance of featuring authors like Eloy Moreno and conferences “so necessary today” like Pedro García Aguado's on adolescence. For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Alejandro Clausell, invited all citizens to participate in a “very lively” fair, with theater, circus, and activities to make strolling among the stalls “a complete experience for all Burriana families.”
