Burriana City Council has given the green light in an extraordinary plenary session to formally accept the competencies delegated by the Ministry of Health for the construction of the new primary care health center in the Port of Burriana. This significant project, with an investment of approximately three million euros funded by the Generalitat Valenciana, aims to expedite timelines and reduce bureaucratic procedures through a new collaboration model.
Of the total budget, 2.2 million euros will be directly allocated to the construction of the new healthcare facility, which will serve over 5,000 permanent residents in the maritime area, as well as seasonal visitors. The future health center will be located on a plot of over 2,000 square meters next to the Port's church. The council is confident that construction can begin before the end of 2027.
According to the planned functional program, the new clinic will feature a Family Medicine area with three medical consultations, three nursing consultations, and one polyvalent consultation with a social worker. It will also include a pediatrics area, spaces for extractions and treatments, patient reception, and an emergency consultation room.
The mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer, described the week as "historic" for the municipality and especially for the residents of the Port, emphasizing that the local government's priority is to "bring healthcare back to the Port as soon as possible".
During the same plenary session, the extension of the II Municipal Staff Equality Plan until June 2027 was also approved to align it with the deadlines set in the Basic Statute of Public Employees. Furthermore, the council has unblocked the urban development of Execution Unit B-2 Villa Fátima by approving the Integrated Action Program under direct municipal management, a project pending for over a decade. The Plenary also agreed to submit the urban modification linked to the Porto Levante project to public information, which proposes transforming the former Formolevante factory into a new residential and commercial space of nearly 50,000 square meters in the maritime zone.
