Farmers in Onda and the City Council have formed a united front to regulate the installation of solar panels in the municipality, agreeing to file objections and study PGOU modifications.

Farmers in Onda have joined forces with the City Council to address the various solar panel installation projects proposed in the municipal area. Currently, all these projects are under review by the competent authorities for approval: the Generalitat Valenciana and the Spanish Government.
The council convened the Consell Agrari, composed mainly of farmers from the Cota 220 and Villa de Onda irrigation community, as well as the Local Cooperative. The aim was to agree on regulations, within the municipal government's powers, for solar panel installations. It was decided to file objections to projects affecting rural areas of the municipality and to consider modifying the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) to establish new control mechanisms.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Maria Baila, explained, “This City Council will always stand by our farmers and the interests of the countryside, as they are part of Onda's DNA, and what is not good for them is not good for Onda. That is why we have listened to them and will work hand in hand.”
The Municipal Agrarian Council of Onda is the local body for participation, consultation, and advice on agricultural matters. Its functions include assessing the municipality's agricultural reality, its problems, and needs. It comprises political representatives from all municipal groups, irrigation communities, farmers from the local Cooperative, representatives from FEPAC-ASAJA, and rural agents from the Local Police and the Guardia Civil's ROCA Group, responsible for preventing rural theft.
