The ordinary May plenary session of the Oropesa City Council approved this Thursday, by unanimous vote of all political groups, the liquidation of the drinking water supply contract in the les Amplàries area.

The plenary session addressed various municipal management issues. Among the highlights, the corporation gave the green light to a proposal on animal welfare and the control of feline colonies in the municipality, an initiative that had the support of part of the chamber, although it generated discrepancies among the municipal groups.
Regarding sustainability, the plenary approved a motion to promote the use of solar energy. The plan provides for the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of public buildings and municipal parking lots, with the aim of reducing external energy dependence and promoting the use of renewable sources in street lighting and Oropesa City Council facilities.
On the other hand, the corporation debated local financing. A motion was approved to request that the Government of Spain update the payments on account of state taxes, adjusting them to the actual collection and current population since 2022.
Finally, the proposal presented by one of the political groups regarding halal menus in school canteens did not prosper as it failed to obtain the necessary support during the vote, being rejected by the majority of the corporation.
