This step represents a decisive advance towards completing one of the strategic infrastructures for the municipality's mobility and urban development. The action will define the final connection phase of the CV-149 with the urban center, improving traffic flow, reinforcing road safety, and promoting better territorial integration.
The Mayor of Benicàssim, Susana Marqués, highlighted that "the awarding of the project drafting means firmly moving towards the execution of a long-planned and necessary infrastructure for the future of Benicàssim. This connection will improve traffic fluidity, reduce pressure on main roads such as Gran Avenida Jaime I and the N-340, and offer a more efficient and safer alternative for residents and visitors." Marqués added that "the project drafting will allow for the definition of all necessary technical aspects to carry out an action that will transform this access to the municipality and has been designed under criteria of sustainable mobility, accessibility, and public space improvement."
The project contracting follows the council's completion of the acquisition of the necessary land for the action, a total of 8,417 square meters located between Pintor Tasio and Frares avenues, next to the old railway line, with an investment close to 1.4 million euros.
For his part, the Urban Planning Councilor, Carlos Díaz, explained that the technical document will specify the expansion of Avenida del Ferrocarril to the 25 meters width planned in the urban development plan, incorporating two traffic lanes, wide sidewalks, parking areas, and a cycle lane that will continue the existing cycling route.
The extension of the CV-149 is part of a global project valued at 6.35 million euros, which also includes complementary actions such as the demolition of the Gimeno Tomás bridge, the construction of a new crossing over the Sigalero ravine, and the execution of new roundabouts on Frares and Gimeno Tomás avenues.
