This linguistic variant, which has its origins in the Mallorcan repopulation four centuries ago, has become a symbol of pride for the residents. During the event, it was highlighted how this way of speaking, which was once disparaged, is now a fundamental element of the town's collective identity.
The celebration was attended by representatives from Balearic Islands media, who highlighted the shared roots between both territories. They explained that Tàrbena has preserved customs and lineages that have often disappeared in their place of origin.
During the day, a tribute was paid to a local resident for her work in transmitting popular music. Her contribution has been key to keeping alive the traditional songs that refer to local geography, such as Bolulla and the coll de Rates.
“"Our identity without the 'parlar salat' would be nothing."
The current challenge for the town is to integrate this linguistic uniqueness with the newly arrived population, ensuring that the 'parlar de sa' continues to be a living and inclusive element in the future of Tàrbena.
