The initiative, with an investment of 289,367.65 euros, is financed by the European Union through Next Generation EU funds, as part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination (PSTD).
Mayor Marcos Zaragoza and Urban Planning Councilor Pedro Ramis signed the works reception act. The five installations are the CEIP Doctor Álvaro Esquerdo (178 modules, 100 kW), CEE Secanet (119 modules, 60 kW), Polideportivo La Torreta (112 modules, 60 kW), Mercat Municipal (54 modules, 30 kW), and Polideportivo Marta Baldó (30 modules, 15 kW).
The implemented system is collective self-consumption with surplus, eligible for compensation. Generated energy is distributed among connected buildings, and surplus is fed into the general grid, resulting in economic compensation on the municipal bill.
Marcos Zaragoza highlighted that the goal is to save on electricity consumption, use more sustainable energy, and reduce emissions, advancing the municipality's energy sustainability.
