The Spanish Navy patrol boat ‘Formentor’ docks today, Wednesday, June 17th, at the Nautical Club of La Vila Joiosa, offering public visits and a flag-lowering ceremony.

The patrol boat ‘Formentor’, belonging to the ‘Toralla’ class and based in Cartagena, will make a stop at the Nautical Club of La Vila Joiosa this Wednesday. This visit is part of the maritime surveillance cruises that the unit regularly conducts along the Mediterranean coast.
During its stay, the ship will open its doors to the public from 4:45 PM to 7:45 PM. Citizens who wish can learn firsthand about the activity, capabilities, and equipment on board the vessel, which is dedicated to protecting national maritime interests and controlling sovereign maritime spaces.
The ‘Formentor’ is part of the Maritime Action Force, which contributes to maritime safety and maintains cooperation with other competent authorities. The visit will allow the public to get closer to the daily work of a Navy unit.
Following the open house, the ship is scheduled to perform a solemn flag-lowering ceremony at 8:55 PM, an event that can be witnessed from the pier.
Built at the Viudes Shipyards in Barcelona and delivered to the Navy in 1989, the ‘Formentor’ carries out missions of maritime surveillance and defense of national interests in Spanish waters. With this stop, the Navy reinforces its presence on the Alicante coast and brings the work of its units closer to the public.
