The accused acknowledged the events before the Alicante Court, thus avoiding a jury trial. The sentence, issued in writing, is final and not subject to appeal. The convicted man admitted all the crimes attributed to him, including continuous physical and psychological abuse from October 2023 until the murder, which occurred on February 5, 2024.
The ruling details several assault incidents. On December 27, 2023, the defendant hit the victim in the face after an argument. Later, on February 3, 2024, he attempted to throw her out of the moving vehicle and struck her with a PVC pipe. A couple who witnessed the assault came to the woman's aid, allowing the aggressor to flee.
The murder took place in the early hours of February 5, when the man went to their shared home and, after another argument, inflicted 22 stab wounds on the victim with a kitchen knife. The woman tried to flee but fell in the hallway and could not escape. The aggressor fled after confessing the events to an acquaintance, who provided him with a vehicle for his escape.
The investigation led to the convicted man's location and arrest at an adult entertainment club in Cox (Alicante). The sentence imposes penalties totaling 23 years, six months, and one day in prison: fourteen months for two counts of gender-based violence mistreatment, seven months for threats, 21 months for habitual violence, and 20 years and one day for murder.
In terms of civil liability, the court has set compensation for the victim's family members. The defendant must pay 20,000 euros to each of the murdered woman's two children, 100,000 euros to each of her parents, and 50,000 euros to each of her two siblings. Additionally, an acquaintance of the defendant has been sentenced to six months in prison for harboring a fugitive.
