Benidorm City Council has inaugurated the Tamarindos Urban Art Space, a new cultural venue in La Cala resulting from participatory budgets, now featuring works by María José Lozano.

The Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, has launched the new Tamarindos Urban Art Space, located on the promenade of the same name in La Cala. This initiative, born from participatory budgets, aims, as explained by councilwoman Ana Pellicer, “to create more spaces to boost art in our city and bring it to all neighborhoods as much as possible”.
With this new space, there are now eight Art Spaces distributed across different areas of the city. The new location features seven backlit 'muppis' which currently display a part of the exhibition ‘Benidorm, Vertical Dream’ by artist María José Lozano. Each of the displayed images is part of a photographic series and includes a QR code that, in Spanish, Valencian, and English, provides information about the photograph, the artistic space, and a link to a map for planning visits to the different venues.
Councilwoman Ana Pellicer highlighted the figure of María José Lozano, who received the Ciutat de Benidorm Cultural Distinction on October 9th, a municipal award recognizing her merits and contribution to Benidorm's heritage, music, and history.
The exhibition ‘Benidorm Vertical Dream’, inaugurated last May, consists of 57 photographs that merge art, fashion, and the city's iconic skyscraper architecture. The exhibition will be available to residents and tourists until the end of summer.
