The first ordinary council meeting under Rafa Carrió's leadership as mayor of Dénia was marked by technical issues with the sound system, including microphone failures and feedback, affecting the initial minutes of the session. These problems were later resolved, becoming an anecdote of the new Compromís mayor's debut.
The configuration of the new municipal government was also evident in the seating arrangement of the council members in the chamber. At the presidential table, alongside Carrió, were the deputy mayor, Maria Josep Ripoll, and councilor Paco Roselló, both from the PSPV, to his right. To his left sat Compromís's number two, María José García, and the councilor for Education, the socialist Melani Ivars, who takes the seat vacated by former mayor Vicent Grimalt.
In the context of the mayoral transition, the council formally accepted the resignation of Vicent Grimalt, forwarding the agreement to the Electoral Board.
Beyond protocol, the session highlighted the spirit of consensus that the new mayor aims to bring to his administration. Rafa Carrió individually met with representatives from the opposition (PP, Vox, and Gent per Dénia) to exchange views before the meeting. Vox councilor Félix Redondo thanked him for this gesture, considering it a necessary practice that had been lacking in the previous term.
