Dénia's PP spokesperson, Pepa Font, engaged in institutional activities in Madrid to support residents affected by coastal demarcations, successfully achieving Senate approval for a motion.

Pepa Font, the municipal president and spokesperson for the People's Party in Dénia, attended a Senate session yesterday where a PP motion was voted on. The motion urged the Spanish Government to halt coastal demarcation procedures and modify the Coastal Regulations, a proposal that was subsequently approved by the Upper House.
According to a statement from the PP of Dénia, Pepa Font undertook an "intense institutional agenda in Madrid to defend the interests of residents affected by coastal demarcations along the Dénia coastline." During her visit to the Senate, she held several working meetings, presenting the situation faced by numerous families in Dénia due to the demarcation procedures initiated by the Coastal Authority. The popular spokesperson advocated for a review of the applied criteria, ensuring legal certainty for property owners and seeking solutions that balance coastal protection with residents' rights.
Subsequently, she attended the Senate Plenary session, where the motion presented by the Popular Group was approved. The initiative calls on the Spanish Government to halt all ongoing expropriation procedures and to promote new Coastal Regulations, agreed upon with municipalities, autonomous communities, and those affected. The motion passed with abstentions from EH Bildu and ERC, and opposing votes from PSOE and Sumar.
Following her Senate engagement, Pepa Font moved to the Congress of Deputies to continue institutional contact rounds, raise awareness of the issue, and explore new parliamentary initiatives. "It is fundamental that administrations are sensitive to the reality of families who have lived in these areas for decades and now face enormous uncertainty. We will continue working to ensure their demands are heard and to unblock initiatives aimed at modifying the Coastal Law, which are currently stalled by the Government in the Congress of Deputies," stated the popular spokesperson.
During the day, she also met with national deputies from the People's Party for Alicante, conveying Dénia's primary needs for the upcoming General State Budgets, and demanding that pending commitments to the city be fulfilled. Additionally, she met with various People's Party deputies and the national party president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who personally thanked her for "the Dénia spokesperson's trip to support the work the Popular Group is undertaking in defense of those affected by coastal demarcations."
