The IX Àgora Actual Percussion Festival fills Xàbia with sound creation and contemporary percussion from June 29 to July 1, featuring five free events that engage with local heritage.

The municipality of Xàbia hosts, from June 29 to July 1, the IX Àgora Actual Percussion Festival. This cultural event is dedicated to sound creation, contemporary percussion, and dialogue with local heritage, offering a program of five free artistic proposals in various emblematic spaces.
This year, the festival strengthens its connection with key locations such as the Port of Xàbia, the Riurau d’Arnauda, the Casa del Cable, and the historic center. Àgora Actual has established itself as a meeting point for national and international percussion performers, composers, and ensembles.
The opening day, Monday, June 29, will begin at 11:00 AM with an interactive sound installation at Platja de la Grava, on Joaquín Sorolla promenade. At 10:30 PM, the Riurau d’Arnauda will host 'El eco de Falla. Música, palabra, memoria,' a performance by Neopercusión commemorating the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla, featuring the voices of Rosa Miranda and Ariel Hernández.
On Tuesday, June 30, the festival proposes a 'Musical Walk' through the historic center of Xàbia starting at 9:30 AM from the Plaza de la Iglesia. J. Chiner (cello) and J. Soriano (percussion) will lead this tour, which will include stops at the Church of Sant Bertomeu, the Soler Blasco Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum, the Chapel of Santa Anna, and the Riurau d’Arnauda.
On the same day, at 10:30 PM, the Riurau d’Arnauda will host 'The Sinking of the Titanic,' an immersive sound experience by the Ensemble Residente Àgora Actual, with the collaboration of the Conservatori Professional de Xàbia.
The festival will conclude on Wednesday, July 1, at 8:30 PM at the Casa del Cable, in the Port of Xàbia, with 'Ecosophy,' performed by Sauti Duo (Magdalena Myrczik and David Almagro). All activities are free and aim to bring contemporary music to different parts of the municipality, combining creation, percussion, heritage, and international artistic presence.
The project is supported by the Culture Department of the Xàbia City Council, the Institut Valencià de Cultura, and INAEM. Artistic direction is by Juanjo Guillem, academic direction by Joan Soriano, and technical direction by Alicia Arnau.
