Reconstruction efforts in Picanya are progressing with the dismantling of the provisional military bridge and the inauguration of the new 'María Cambrils' pedestrian and cycle walkway.

Reconstruction work in areas affected by the DANA continues to advance. The Ministry of Defence has begun dismantling the provisional structure that the Army installed over the ravine in Picanya. This military bridge, nearly 61 meters long with a four-meter wide roadway equipped with lighting and urban fencing, was a key element in mitigating the severe isolation the town suffered after four of its five bridges were lost.
The permanent replacement is the new pedestrian and cycle bridge, María Cambrils, a significantly wider and more robust infrastructure than its predecessor. Measuring 82.1 meters in length and 5 meters in useful width, this access directly connects to the local road network. Its design aims not only to restore normality but also to prevent future disasters. This walkway has been built with high resistance criteria against extreme weather phenomena, supported by two reinforced concrete piers optimized for water flow and deep foundations in the riverbed. The deck, combining metal and concrete, minimizes obstruction of the ravine to avoid impeding river flow, and incorporates LED lighting integrated into the handrail.
This intervention is part of the emergency agreement signed in March 2025 between the Ministry of Transport and the Picanya City Council. It is not an isolated project, as the Central Government is investing a total of 34 million euros to repair or rebuild 17 structures damaged by the storm in eight towns in the province: Manises, Paiporta, Riba-roja de Túria, Almussafes, Beniparrell, Catarroja, Quart de Poblet, and Picanya itself.
Within the municipality of Picanya, the reconstruction agenda is progressing well at four other critical points. While the bridge on Avenida del Mediterráneo is entering its repair phase, intensive work is underway on the reconstruction of the Poeta Ángel González walkway and the bridges on Calle Valencia and the Diputació crossing. On the latter, located next to the new María Cambrils walkway, the final deck has already been successfully installed. Once the works on the María Cambrils are completed, the infrastructure will become municipal property, with its maintenance falling to the local council.
