The Plaça del Llibre is celebrating a special edition this year in Catarroja, as part of the 'Reading for Recovery' project, to strengthen the publishing sector and community cohesion after the DANA.

The initiative, promoted by the Fundació FULL with support from the Ministry of Culture, aims to highlight the importance of books and reading as tools for emotional reconstruction and recovery in territories affected by the DANA. Fundació FULL views this edition as a commitment to public policies that recognize books as an essential cultural right.
The event seeks to become an open space for the region and affected municipalities, reinforcing reading as a shared network. The president of Fundació FULL, Alicia Sellés, emphasized that "culture and reading cannot be left out of recovery processes," highlighting the need to "rebuild bonds, imagine shared futures, and strengthen everyone's right to participate in cultural life."
For her part, Dolors Gimeno, Councilor for Culture and Linguistic Policy of the Catarroja City Council, explains that "the arrival of the Plaça del Llibre in Catarroja is also a recognition of culture's role as a tool for social cohesion and emotional recovery for the town." She added that "reading helps us understand what we have lived through, preserve collective memory, and also imagine the future."
Maria José Galvez, Director General of Books and Reading Promotion for the Spanish Government, stated that the Ministry "will stand by the cultural sector, citizens, and Valencian towns affected by the DANA through the Valencian Culture Reconstruction Plan." She emphasized that "without culture, there is no possible reconstruction" and that the Plaça del Llibre "places readers at the center of our dignity."
The program will include activities linked to recovery, such as the participation of artist Rafa Tormo with the project «IP37», an artistic reflection on territorial vulnerability. There will also be a dramatized reading, "Veus per a després d’una DANA" (Voices for after a DANA), produced by Mafalda Bellido, featuring texts on memory, loss, and emotional reconstruction.
Artist Elías Taño, responsible for the graphic image of Plaça del Llibre 2026, will create a mural at the Ramon Guillem Library. The initiative will maintain territorial collaboration with cultural agents, libraries, and administrations, reinforcing its community dimension.
