Picassent Local Police have detained and reported four minors for vandalism at the municipal pool, after they accessed the facilities and caused damage that required cleaning and disinfection work.

Picassent Local Police have detained and reported four minors for vandalism at the municipal pool. The incidents occurred last week when the youths accessed the summer facilities at night and threw furniture into the large pool. Furthermore, they urinated in the children's pool, necessitating emptying, cleaning, disinfection, analysis, and refilling operations.
The incident happened just days before the start of the summer season. Detectors and security cameras at the premises alerted the Local Police, who responded to the facilities and proceeded to detain the minors. Their parents were subsequently notified.
The Picassent City Council has demanded payment for the costs of restoring the children's pool, estimated at over 4,000 euros, to ensure hygienic and sanitary conditions before its opening. Additionally, the council has filed a complaint that could result in a fine up to four times the value of the damage, potentially reaching nearly 20,000 euros.
The council has appealed for citizen responsibility during the summer months, particularly regarding incidents that disrupt the normal operation of municipal facilities. Each such episode requires the temporary closure of the pool for cleaning and disinfection tasks, causing inconvenience to users.
The City Council has reminded the public that the facilities at the Picassent municipal sports center are equipped with surveillance systems including cameras, sensors, and alarms, in addition to special coverage by the Local Police during the summer season.
