The investigation began on May 19, when agents from the Family and Woman Care Unit (UFAM) became aware of the situation of a particularly vulnerable woman who lived with the aggressor and their infant son, only two months old.
According to police inquiries, episodes of physical and psychological violence reportedly began when the victim became pregnant. Agents suggest the man did not want her to continue with the pregnancy and allegedly assaulted her on several occasions, even when she was eight months pregnant. In one of these incidents, the woman had to flee her home and take refuge in a neighbor's house to avoid further beatings.
The investigation also maintains that the detainee used the couple's child to exert emotional control over the victim, allegedly threatening to take the baby away and give him to another woman to raise.
After gathering the necessary evidence, agents located and arrested the suspect as the alleged perpetrator of a domestic abuse offense. The arrested individual, who has a police record, has been brought before the judicial authorities. The court has issued an order of protection, prohibiting him from communicating with or approaching the victim within 300 meters as a precautionary measure.
