A jury in Valencia has sentenced three individuals to between 16 and 27 years in prison for the murder of a man in Manises, after they tortured him to access his bank account.

The three convicted, two men and one woman, met the victim during the Fallas festivities in 2024. After several hours of celebration, they took him to his apartment in Manises (Horta Sud). There, they tortured him for over fifty minutes, aiming to steal 126,000 euros they knew he possessed.
The sentence imposes twenty-one years in prison on one of the men for murder and robbery, with aggravating factors of abuse of superiority and recidivism, and a mitigating factor of drug addiction. He is also ordered to be expelled from the country. The second convict receives twenty-seven years and four months for both crimes. The woman, to whom confession is recognized, will serve 16 years and three months. All three must compensate the victim's brother with 15,000 euros.
The events occurred on March 19th, when the accused attempted to obtain the victim's bank details by administering substances. Faced with his cries, they inflicted blows and kicks, causing rib fractures and hemorrhages, and stuffed rags into his mouth, leading to his death by asphyxiation. The sentence describes the assault as "merciless" and "totally unnecessary".
Although the accused denied active participation, claiming to be "mere spectators," the jury found their authorship and the cause of death proven. They took the victim's mobile phone and bank cards but did not manage to access the money. The woman notified the Local Police the following day.
Audio messages played during the trial captured the beginning of the assault and the victim's cries, as well as the demands from the woman and one of the men for the bank keys and PIN.
