The initiative aims to establish a protocol and a permanent working group for mental health response in emergency situations. This manual will be integrated into the municipal local emergency plan, scheduled for presentation to the public after the summer. The protocol will include drills with role-players to enhance coordination.
The protocol will be activated upon request from the Municipal Operational Coordination Center (Cecopal), which will include representation from the Local Police, Civil Protection, the Health Center, Social Services, and municipal technicians. Once activated, it will facilitate the deployment of psychologists in the population, directed by a specialized mental health working group.
“"We must address our emergency protocols not only from a physical standpoint but also from a social one, focusing on the care of people in the initial moments of an emergency, and for this, this protocol will be a useful mechanism to act in psychosocial emergencies."
The Mayor of Benetússer, Eva Sanz, highlighted the importance of addressing emergencies from an integral perspective, including psychosocial care from the very first moments.
