In a session open to the public, the Benetússer City Council provided a detailed update on the reconstruction work of the municipal sports facilities. The meeting was attended by Mayor Eva Sanz, Sports Councilor Rafael del Riu, municipal technicians, and the construction manager of the swimming pool complex, who addressed residents' questions.
Mayor Eva Sanz opened the meeting by explaining the six distinct projects into which the reconstruction has been divided: the football field, sports pavilion, adjacent courts, swimming pool complex, fronton court, changing rooms and cafeteria, as well as a planned expansion on the first floor of the complex.
Regarding the football field, the facility has been operational since last September, thanks to the collaboration of the Valencian Community Football Federation. The FC Barcelona Foundation will also contribute 84,000 euros in materials to improve the pavilion, which is expected to reopen in October.
The sports courts adjacent to the football field will begin construction in the coming weeks, with an opening date planned for December. A roofing structure is planned to protect the multi-sport and paddle tennis courts from the weather.
The construction manager for the swimming pool complex, Casto Bolufer, announced improvements in accessibility and air conditioning for the corridors. The full launch of the complex, with a budget of nearly four million euros, is scheduled for March 2027.
Finally, plans for the cafeteria area, changing rooms, stands, and fronton court were updated, with construction set to begin in November. An expansion of approximately 1,700 square meters on the first floor of the swimming pool complex is also planned, intended for sports such as judo, karate, capoeira, fencing, and chess.
With this meeting, the Benetússer City Council has now held five information sessions to detail the reconstruction efforts following the 2024 flood. The latest sessions were attended by commissioners for reconstruction from the Generalitat Valenciana, Raúl Mérida, and the Spanish Government, Zulima Pérez.
