The information was shared in a session of the local Economic and Social Council, open to citizen participation. Speakers included the mayor of Benetússer, Eva Sanz, the Councilor for Sports, Rafael del Río, municipal technicians, and the project manager for the swimming pool complex rehabilitation.
Eva Sanz explained that the reconstruction has been divided into six distinct actions, affecting the football field, the sports pavilion, the adjacent pitches, the swimming pool complex, the fronton court, changing rooms, the cafeteria, and a sports facility expansion project.
The football field is already operational since September, thanks to a project developed with the collaboration of the Football Federation of the Valencian Community. Regarding the sports pavilion, the FC Barcelona Foundation will contribute 84,000 euros in materials, and it is expected to be operational in October.
The reconstruction works for the pitches adjacent to the football field will begin soon, with an opening expected in December. The project includes a roof to protect the multi-sport and paddle tennis courts.
The swimming pool complex, with a budget of almost four million euros, will incorporate improvements in accessibility and air conditioning. Its launch is scheduled for March 2027. The project manager, Casto Bolufer, updated the details of this action.
Projects for the cafeteria area, changing rooms, stands, and fronton court have also been updated, with works scheduled to start in November. Additionally, approximately 1,700 square meters will be added on the first floor of the swimming pool complex for disciplines such as judo, karate, capoeira, fencing, and chess.
The Benetússer City Council has held five open sessions to inform about the municipality's reconstruction progress after the DANA. The latest sessions were attended by commissioners from the Spanish Government, Zulima Pérez, and the Generalitat, Raúl Mérida.
