The Foios City Council has incorporated part of sculptor Paco Corell's work into the municipal collection, presenting the exhibition ‘Roig Cirera, Amarillo Paja’ which can be visited from May 29 to June 14.

The Foios City Council, through the Department of Culture and Heritage, has prepared an activities program called ‘Roig Cirera, Amarillo Paja’ focused on the trajectory and work of sculptor Paco Corell, born in the municipality of l’Horta Nord. A significant part of his sculptural work will become part of the municipal heritage, thus reinforcing local cultural identity.
The exhibition will open on Friday, May 29, at 7:30 PM in the Fernando Barrachina exhibition hall. The exhibition can be visited free of charge from Wednesday to Friday, from 6 PM to 8 PM, and on weekends, from 12 PM to 2 PM, until Sunday, June 14.

"After Paco Corell's donation as a gesture of cultural and heritage return to his land, the fact that part of his sculptural work is integrated into our town's heritage allows us to reinforce local cultural identity, in this case, thanks to a creator with a solid, coherent, and recognizable career that dialogues with the issues of modern art through contemporary sculpture."

Sergi Ruiz · Mayor of Foios and Head of Culture and Heritage
On the same Friday, May 29, at 6:30 PM, the Foios House of Culture will host ‘Conversations with Paco Corell’. In this event, the sculptor will converse with the exhibition's curator, Carles Àngel, and the mayor, Sergi Ruiz.
Additionally, other activities have been scheduled: a visit to Paco Corell's studio in Meliana on Wednesday, June 3, at 6 PM, and a guided tour of the exhibition with the curator on Wednesday, June 10, at 6 PM. To participate in these visits, prior reservation is required by sending an email to the Culture Department.
Paco Corell's donation also aims to be integrated into educational programs for schools and mediation actions with cultural associations. A catalog accompanying the exhibition has also been published.
Paco Corell's work is characterized by direct work with iron, transforming metal sheets into three-dimensional structures where geometry is fragmented. According to Carles Àngel Saurí, cultural mediator, Corell's work demonstrates how technical drawing can transform a two-dimensional plan into a complex spatial exercise, with pedagogical value for explaining the principles of modern sculpture, referencing artists such as Jorge Oteiza or Julio González.
