The VIII Marta Fernández de Castro Race filled Valencia with 6,678 runners, marking the 200th race of the Caixa Popular Ciutat de València Circuit in a festive atmosphere.

Valencia experienced a historic day this Sunday with the celebration of the VIII Marta Fernández de Castro Race. The event attracted 6,678 participants and marked the 200th race of the Caixa Popular Ciutat de València Circuit. The competition, held around the Penya-roja neighborhood, confirmed the strong momentum of popular running in the city and the significant following of the municipal circuit.
Organized by the Municipal Sports Foundation of the Valencia City Council along with Team 3FDC, the race took place on a certified 5-kilometer urban course, with the start and finish line at Paseo de la Alameda 47A. From early morning, thousands of runners filled the area surrounding the track, creating a vibrant sporting atmosphere.
In the men's category, Alejandro Galindo from CD Metasport of Riba-roja secured victory with a time of 14:33. He was followed by his teammate Borja Añón (14:37) and Germán Cister (14:41) from Serrano Club de Atletismo, completing the podium.
In the women's category, CD Metasport of Riba-roja achieved a clean sweep. María Valero won with 16:43, closely followed by Aitana Ortega (16:45) and Lucía Valero (16:57).
In addition to the competitive race, participatory events such as ‘A tu Ritmo’ and children's races were held, gathering 150 children under 14 years old, reinforcing the family-friendly nature of the event.
The race held symbolic significance as the 200th event in the Caixa Popular Ciutat de València Circuit, an initiative established as a benchmark for popular sports, promoting healthy habits and social cohesion.
The organizational success and participation consolidate the circuit's growth, reinforcing Valencia's image as a popular running city.
The VIII Marta Fernández de Castro Race featured the participation of Música Para el Autismo (MUA), one of the circuit's solidarity entities. Led by its president Jordi Ardit, MUA provided musical entertainment before the ‘A tu Ritmo’ category and performed at a point along the route, receiving applause from participants.
