Valencia has once again experienced the devotion for the Mare de Déu dels Desemparats, with the celebration of the Children's Mass and the traditional Transfer of the patron saint, which gathered thousands of faithful this Sunday.

The festive day began with the Children's Mass, officiated by the Archbishop of Valencia, Enrique Benavent. Various authorities attended the event, including the president of the Generalitat, the Spanish government delegate in the Valencian Community, and the mayor of Valencia, among others. The city's festive children's representation was also present.

"Every day we see with concern that what we all want seems to be moving further and further away. How many signs of death, how many wars, how little human life and dignity are respected."

Enrique Benavent · Archbishop of Valencia
During his homily, Benavent expressed his concern about global conflicts and criticized indifference to the suffering of peoples and confrontations for unjustifiable interests. He also denounced existing divisions and the lack of moral principles to achieve goals, which he considers a source of injustice and wars.
The Children's Mass featured musical participation from the José Iturbi Municipal Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Joan Baptista Comes Choir, and the Basilica's Choir School, all contributing to the solemn atmosphere of the celebration.
Around 10:30 AM, the Plaza de la Mare de Déu filled up to witness the Transfer of the Mare de Déu. The image of the patron saint received numerous praises and thanks, with displays of emotion and devotion from the faithful, including children who were lifted to touch the mantle.
This year, the route of the Transfer featured a modification. The Cathedral Chapter decided to change the itinerary to avoid Micalet Street due to ongoing works around the temple, prioritizing the safety of the devotees. Thus, the procession accessed the cathedral via an alternative path, entering through the Puerta de los Hierros after 11:00 AM.
