The Valencia City Council has announced that it will reinforce parking prohibition signage in the city's street markets, while maintaining surveillance by district units.

The municipal head of Security and Mobility confirmed that, following a meeting with vendors, it was agreed to install new signs and update the design of existing ones to improve visibility throughout the market routes.
Regarding police presence, the council explained that district units will continue their surveillance duties. Currently, the Security, Support and Prevention Unit (USAP) has stopped operating in these areas due to a decrease in petty theft, although the local government assured that it could be reactivated if an increase in crime is detected.
On the other hand, the councilor valued the collaboration with the Government Sub-delegation to address the presence of illegal parking attendants. The official stressed the importance of involving state authorities in investigating potential organized gangs, as the Local Police does not have jurisdiction over criminal investigation tasks.

"We are very clear about the competencies of each police force and we are very clear that we, as a collaborating body in security matters with the National Police, will continue to collaborate as we do in Malvarosa."
