The Valencia City Council has announced a significant investment of 58 million euros for the Turia Garden. Of this amount, 28 million will be allocated to a five-year integral management and maintenance contract, costing 5.6 million euros annually. The tender documents for this contract are nearly complete and will be published soon, aiming for the new contract to be operational next year.
The Local Government Board will approve this Friday one of the three key construction projects for the enclave, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the riverbed's cession by the State to the city. This project, funded with 16 million euros and a 20-month execution period, will focus on renovating sections 10 and 11, known as the Ricardo Bofill sections. Work will be carried out on the pavement of the Palau de la Música fountain and the section between the Puente de las Flores and the Ángel Custodio bridge.
In addition to these actions, the City Council is also managing two other projects for the garden: a 'skate park' in section 12 and an intervention in the Parque de Cabecera area. In total, these three projects will amount to a municipal investment of 29 million euros.
The municipal official highlighted that the Turia Garden is the city's "crown jewel" and that "its moment has arrived, the moment for investment." It was emphasized that the river will be unrecognizable in the coming years thanks to these improvements. The renovation of the running path, the ongoing expansion, the lighting upgrades, and the cleaning of historic bridges were also mentioned.
