The city of Valencia is gearing up to host a major international sporting event: the EuroHockey U21 Championships 2026. This continental competition, which will bring together Europe's top junior men's and women's national teams, is scheduled to take place from July 26th to August 1st, 2026.
Matches will be played at the hockey fields of Tarongers and La Carrasca. The Valencian Community Hockey Federation is organizing this tournament, which will showcase the emerging talent of European field hockey. The Tarongers field, featuring a newly renovated facility, will debut as the main venue, positioning itself as a key hub for future competitions.
A total of 16 national teams from across Europe will compete for the title on the blue turf of Valencia. In the men's category, the participating teams are Austria, Belgium, England, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The women's competition will feature Belgium, England, Spain, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Wales.
Spain will be aiming to reclaim the continental title. The men's team will seek to replicate their success from 2024 in Terrassa, where they defeated the Netherlands 3-1. The women's team, meanwhile, aims to repeat the feat achieved in Valencia at the EuroHockey 2019, when they beat the Netherlands in an exciting shoot-out.
This marks the sixth time Valencia has hosted a European Championship for junior categories, having previously hosted the U21 editions in 2008, 2017, and 2019, and the U18 competitions in 2012 and 2021. Tickets to enjoy the best U21 hockey in Europe will be available soon.
