The trade unions UGT and CCOO have denounced that the Naviera Association is blocking any progress in the collective bargaining agreement negotiations. According to the union organizations, the employers' association considers any issue other than the general salary increase non-negotiable, and their proposals do not meet the workers' demands.
As stated by the unions, the agreement negotiations, which began this year, are stalled due to the employers' refusal to introduce labor improvements for the sector's workers, despite the positive evolution of company profits being well-known.
The union organizations have recalled their demands: a 4% salary increase with IPC review plus an additional 2% each year of the agreement's validity. Furthermore, they are requesting the implementation of a new 150 euro monthly supplement to recognize experience, a reduction in working hours, an increase in vacation and free days, and the regulation of subcontracting and shift workers' conditions.
Both UGT and CCOO have lamented that, in response to these demands, companies are only willing to discuss the salary increase, which they consider "much lower than requested," without considering any other aspect of the agreement, leading the negotiations to their current deadlock.
Finally, the unions have warned that they cannot accept this situation "given the current favorable economic climate for companies." UGT and CCOO demand that the employers' association accept the proposed salary improvements and agree to negotiate the agreement in all its aspects, going beyond a mere salary increase, for which, moreover, they have not yet received any specific proposal.
