The Ministry of Health has administered nearly 1.2 million doses of flu vaccines in the Valencia Community between October 1st and March 31st, a 10.26% increase from the previous season.

The flu vaccination campaign in the Valencia Community has concluded with a positive outcome, with a total of 1,187,030 doses administered. This figure represents a 10.26% increase compared to the previous season, reinforcing the importance of vaccination as a key tool for protecting the most vulnerable population.
By province, Valencia recorded 576,948 doses administered, followed by Alicante with 483,343 doses and Castellón with 126,736 doses. The Generalitat has highlighted the public's positive response to the campaign.
During the initial weeks, the priority was vaccinating at-risk groups: individuals over 60, residents in socio-health centers, people with chronic conditions or immunodeficiency, pregnant women, and essential healthcare and public service professionals. In residences, 28,825 doses were administered (83.8% coverage), with 16,506 in Valencia, 8,834 in Alicante, and 3,485 in Castellón.
Groups such as pregnant and postpartum women were also covered, with 24,002 doses (91.9% coverage), and transplant recipients (cardiac or hematopoietic), with 1,779 doses (74.1% coverage). Pediatric vaccination (6-71 months) reached 60,105 children in educational and special needs centers.
From November onwards, the campaign was extended to all individuals who requested it. The Generalitat emphasizes that the vaccine not only prevents respiratory infections but also reduces severe complications, hospitalizations, and mortality, potentially preventing up to half of severe cases in older adults and reducing cardiovascular risk.
Regarding Covid-19, the recommendation focused on at-risk populations (over 70s and vulnerable individuals) to maintain protection against severe illness. Co-administration with the flu vaccine was suggested to improve protection and accessibility. In this 2025-2026 season, nearly 640,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered: 313,307 in Valencia, 256,940 in Alicante, and 69,367 in Castellón.
