Valencia's Parks and Gardens Service has begun renovating the garden in Plaza Portadors de la Verge de Pinedo, focusing on expanding and modernizing the children's play area.

Valencia's Parks and Gardens Service has commenced renovation works on the garden in Plaza Portadors de la Verge de Pinedo, located in the Southern Districts. The primary objective of this intervention is to expand and modernize the park's children's play area, which will cover a surface of over 100 square meters. Three new play areas will be created, integrated into the garden's current structure, maintaining the existing pathways and the characteristic layout of this space in the Pinedo neighborhood.
The Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Mónica Gil, highlighted that “this action demonstrates the City Council's commitment to Valencia's neighborhoods and districts” and added that “this renovation improves the quality of life for residents of all ages”.
The project includes the installation of a new multi-play structure with towers, a slide, and a rope net, as well as two new swings. The children's areas will feature impact-absorbing flooring with rubber tiles approved according to European safety standards for children's play areas, free from toxic substances.
Gil detailed that “one of the most notable elements of the project is its adapted nature, as one of the swings will incorporate a seat with an adapted harness for children with reduced mobility or special needs”. A swing with a ‘You&Me’ type seat will also be installed, designed for an adult and a baby to share the swinging experience safely.
Regarding urban furniture, new benches will be installed, and existing elements in good condition will be preserved. The works, with a budget of 98,625.70 euros (VAT included), also include maintenance and improvement of existing vegetation, with pruning of trees and palm trees, replacement of shrubs in deteriorated areas, and sowing of grass.
The estimated execution period is thirty days from the site survey confirmation. This initiative stems from a proposal made during the Decidim VLC participatory budgeting process.
