The Generalitat Valenciana has presented its 2026 budget proposal, allocating 5.6 million euros to the new General Hospital of Castellón and five million for the West Ring Road, key projects for the city.

The new General Hospital and the final section of the West Ring Road are two of the most significant projects for Castellón within the 2026 regional budget, presented this Friday by the Consell. The healthcare center will receive 5.6 million euros for the drafting of the project and construction management, valued at 12 million. Meanwhile, the West Ring Road in the capital of La Plana has five million allocated for the start of construction.
The budget for the new General Hospital outlines a spending plan until 2029 with a total investment of 141 million euros. For 2026, the aforementioned 5.6 million have been allocated, followed by 30.9 million in 2027, 52.6 million in 2028, and 52 million in 2029. The start of construction is scheduled for 2027 and completion for 2032, with an estimated global expenditure of around 250 million euros, according to the contract already awarded.
In healthcare matters, the Consell has also allocated one million euros for the expansion of the Hospital de la Plana in Vila-real (total cost of 22 million), 1.3 million for the renovation of the Casa Gran specialty center in Castellón, and 1.6 million for the rehabilitation of the La Plana health center. Additionally, there is one million for the expansion of the Hospital de Vinaròs and 800,000 euros to adapt the specialty center in the same town.
Regarding infrastructure, the West Ring Road of Castellón is the priority, with five million for the commencement of works in 2026. This project has a total value of 37 million, with the bulk left for 2027 and 2028. Road maintenance has a budget of 14 million euros, but other announced projects like the Ceramics axis or the Tram de la Plana receive minimal allocations for studies.
The Conselleria d'Indústria i Innovació highlights three million euros for the renovation of the Correos building in Castellón, which will house the territorial Innovation center. Other reduced allocations are designated for studies for the southern ring road of La Llosa, the duplication of the CV-141 in Peñíscola, the cycle-pedestrian axis of Xilxes, among others.
In education, the allocation for new infrastructure is weaker. There is one million euros for the drafting of the project for the new conservatory in Castellón, with the aim of having the execution plan by the end of 2026. Other centers such as the new IES of Crèmor, the vocational training center at Castellón airport, Les Amplàries in Orpesa, and the CEIP l'Albea in Vall d'Alba receive minimal allocations, except for the CRA Espadán-Mijares, which has 1.1 million.
