The new themed children's park, named Gulliver's Lilliput, will be located in sections 4 and 5 of the Turia Garden, between the Puente de les Arts and the Puente de les Glòries Valencianes. The central piece will be a large playable sculpture of seated Gulliver, 8.3 meters high, which children can explore inside and out.
The construction of this new space is the result of an urban development agreement linked to the expansion of the Valencian Institute of Oncology (IVO). The IVO will undertake the investment and construction of the park, estimated at 1.5 million euros, before its handover to the València City Council for management and maintenance.
The park will occupy a 6,700 square meter plot, with 2,300 m² designated for the play area. The Gulliver figure will include slides, tunnels, climbing nets, and walkways. Around it, elements such as giant books, towers, and walls will be distributed, creating a unified thematic experience. The area will be fenced and illuminated, with an estimated capacity of 250 people.
This project aims to continue the legacy of the existing Gulliver Park, a benchmark for family leisure in Valencia for decades, and the future Gulliver's Ship planned for the Desembocadura Park.
Compromís has expressed a critical stance, despite supporting the IVO's expansion. Their spokesperson, Papi Robles, believes the urban operation results in a loss of green space in the Campanar neighborhood and criticizes the concentration of investments in the Turia Garden. The City Council, however, assures that the new park will not involve tree felling.
The council has detailed that the project's design will take approximately one month, and construction is estimated to take about six months.
