The city of Valencia has unveiled the sketches for its 2027 municipal Fallas monument, which will pay tribute to the singer Nino Bravo with a large-scale installation designed by José Luis Santos.

The monument, set to preside over the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (City Hall Square) with the theme “Vuelvo a mi tierra”, will measure 20x15 meters and be crafted by the Baena Tandem workshop. Artist José Luis Santos explained that the intention is for the final verse of the song “Un beso y una flor” (“A kiss and a flower”), “what is dear to us always stays behind,” not to be entirely fulfilled, as Bravo's memory and music remain indelible.
The Fallas monument proposes a look back at the past, recalling the social and technological transformations of the last five decades, from transportation to social media, which have changed our way of life. This will be reflected with humor and nostalgia, using music as a symbol of this metamorphosis.
The construction of the monument will utilize 100% ecological materials and solar energy. Wood, paste glue made from cereal flour, recycled paper and cardboard, Corcho neops (derived from organic waste), and non-polluting plant-based paints and varnishes will be the primary components.
The six scenes depicted in the monument will include cultural references such as the cramped Simca 1000 from Los Inhumanos, the cassette tape with its famous Bic pen rewind, a Barbie Superstar jealous of Camilo Sesto, and an allusion to the singer from Xàtiva, Bruno Lomas.
Meanwhile, the children's Fallas, designed by Ceballos& Sanabria, will be themed “El tiempo de Fallas” (The Time of Fallas). This monument will be organized around time and key Fallas moments such as the Crida (proclamation), Presentation, Mascletà (firecracker show), Plantà (erection), Parades, Ofrenda (offering), and Cremà (burning), interspersed with everyday moments like enjoying hot chocolate with pumpkin fritters or dancing to the charanga band.
