A three-year-old Danish boy has died at Son Espases Hospital in Mallorca as a result of severe injuries sustained when he fell into the swimming pool of a rental house in Can Picafort on Friday.

The minor had been in an irreversible coma in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) since his admission. The tragic accident occurred around four-thirty on Friday afternoon at a property in Can Picafort, within the municipality of Santa Margalida. The child's family was gathered with other families and children when the boy wandered away from his parents and fell into the pool unnoticed at first.
Eventually, an onlooker spotted the child at the bottom of the pool, pulled him out, and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers. After emergency services were alerted, a team including local police, the Guardia Civil, and Civil Protection arrived at the scene and continued the resuscitation efforts.
Health services from Ib-salut, including a mobile ICU and a conventional ambulance, also attended the residence. Despite advanced resuscitation attempts, his condition remained critical. His pulse was reactivated, but the boy remained unconscious.
Due to the risks of transporting him by road in a ground ambulance, a medical helicopter was dispatched. It airlifted the minor to the Son Espases helipad. He was subsequently admitted to the pediatric ICU, where he remained until his death was confirmed this Sunday.
