The Russafa Market in València will advance its closing time by one hour, from Monday to Friday, while air conditioning and building improvement works are underway.

The Russafa Market has decided to advance its closing time by one hour, from Monday to Friday, to facilitate the air conditioning works currently being carried out in the building. Therefore, the new schedule will be from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM during the week. On Saturdays, the market will maintain its usual hours, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
The renovations, which began last May, include updating the air conditioning system, replacing access doors, and renewing the lighting to improve energy efficiency. A vitrification process will also be carried out on the venue's floor. The intervention, with a budget of 1.6 million euros, is expected to last six months, extending into autumn.
The installation of eight new air conditioning units and the improvement of seven access doors are planned. Additionally, a complete renovation of the lighting will be undertaken to optimize energy consumption.
The City Council consulted vendors about the possibility of closing the market during August to expedite the work. The decision was close: 69 votes favored keeping it open, while 67 preferred closure. Ultimately, the decision was made to advance the daily closing time by one hour to allow work to begin at 3:00 PM.
