Valencian judicial bodies registered a total of 2,690 filings for separations, divorces, and annulments between January and March 2026, compared to 2,913 in the same quarter of 2025. These figures come from the Statistics Service of the General Council of the Judiciary.
During the first quarter of 2026, both separations (consensual and non-consensual) and contentious divorces decreased. However, consensual divorces saw a slight increase of 1.7%, reaching 1,677 filings. In contrast, non-consensual divorce filings dropped by 20.7%, standing at 919.
Non-consensual separation filings numbered 23, down 23.3% from the previous year, while consensual separation filings totaled 69, down 2.8%. Regarding annulments, two filings were submitted, half the number from the same period in 2025.
In relation to the population, the Valencian Community ranks second nationally with 49.6 marital dissolution filings per 100,000 inhabitants, surpassed only by Navarra (52.4). The national average was 42.4.
By province, Valencia recorded 1,543 filings, Alicante 863, and Castellón 284 during the first quarter of 2026.
In parallel, consensual modification of measures filings increased by 28.5% (451), while non-consensual ones decreased by 9.2% (895). Modifications of consensual non-marital child custody and alimony measures grew by 12.3% (648), and non-consensual ones decreased by 13% (713).
Within the provinces, Valencia accounted for 723 modification of measures filings, Alicante 382, and Castellón 105. Regarding modifications related to non-marital children, Valencia registered 721, Alicante 501, and Castellón 139.
