This campaign is part of the Road Safety Vector Plan, the municipal strategy aimed at halving traffic accidents in the city by 2030. Officers have increased their presence on main roads and in leisure areas since last March.

Controls are carried out daily but are especially intensified from Thursday to Sunday. These time slots coincide with a higher volume of travel linked to nightlife and evening leisure, times when the risk of driving under the influence of prohibited substances is higher.

According to police sources, surveillance is not limited to leisure areas but also extends to access points to Valencia and locations with a history of high accident rates. The goal is to act preventively to avoid drivers endangering their lives and those of other road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists.

The presence of alcohol and drugs behind the wheel causes a decrease in reflexes and impaired judgment, factors that increase the severity of accidents. With this strategy, the city council seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of road safety to achieve safer mobility throughout the municipality.
