DANA Judge Summons Valencia Provincial Council President Again

The investigating judge has ordered a new summons for Vicente Mompó after revelations from the mayor of Torrent.

The investigating judge in the DANA case has ordered a new summons for the President of the Valencia Provincial Council, Vicente Mompó, after the mayor of Torrent, Amparo Folgado, revealed she had alerted him about the local ravine.

The investigating magistrate made this decision in a ruling agreed upon this Tuesday. Furthermore, the call logs of the mayor of Torrent on her corporate phone on October 29, 2024, the tragic day that resulted in 230 deaths, will be investigated.
In his first testimony on July 17, Mompó stated he was unaware if the situation in Torrent was discussed in the Cecopi meeting. He added that if L'Horta Sud was not mentioned, it was because technicians did not foresee the impending danger.
For her part, the mayor of Torrent and provincial deputy stated that she warned Vicente Mompó that the town's ravine was flowing with great force towards its confluence with the Poyo stream.
The resolution also summons two journalists from À Punt, the Valencian public television channel, who were covering the DANA floods, to testify as witnesses.
