The Governing Board has greenlit this funding package with the objective of supporting grassroots sports, ensuring the viability of minority disciplines, and backing local athletes in national and international competitions. The budget is distributed across strategic lines ranging from technical support for clubs and federations to direct sponsorship for motorsport and motorcycle racing drivers.
The main portion of the aid, amounting to 851,000 euros, has been assigned to a total of 83 provincial clubs to cover expenses related to their participation in official leagues and tournaments. This fund benefits both widely popular sports like football and basketball, as well as minority disciplines (fencing, baseball, kayak polo, weightlifting, or chess) that face greater difficulties in attracting private sponsorships.
Furthermore, 270,000 euros have been allocated to 47 federations and local entities for the organization of absolute category sports events within the province of Valencia.
The motorsport sector also receives specific financial backing in this public call. The Sports Department has earmarked 100,000 euros for 15 motorcycle racing drivers and 85,000 euros for seven motorsport drivers from the province. These individual allocations, ranging from 750 to 18,000 euros depending on the discipline and competition level, will serve to finance the presence of young athletes in world championships, European championships, and Spanish cups, preventing a lack of financial resources from hindering their professional progression.
The Deputy of Sports, Pedro Cuesta, highlighted that these grants are fundamental for minority sports federations and non-professional clubs in the province, which could not continue their activities without the corporation's support. He also reaffirmed the administration's commitment to grassroots sports to ensure that no talented young person is left behind due to a lack of resources.
