The Valencia Provincial Council presented this Tuesday in Guardamar de la Safor the new improvements incorporated into the provincial beach service. This initiative will reinforce accessibility, cleaning, and environmental protection of the Valencian coast through an investment of 813,429.77 Euros.
The President of the Provincial Council, Vicent Mompó, and the Deputy of Environment, Avelino Mascarell, along with representatives from various coastal municipalities, unveiled the new resources that the provincial Environment area is adding to the service to improve municipal support and ensure more accessible, sustainable, and summer-season-ready beaches.
Among the main actions developed this year is the acquisition of 66 amphibious chairs and 67 electric transfer hoists, with an investment of 228,076.56 Euros. These facilities will enhance accessibility in 19 municipalities across the province and facilitate beach access for individuals with reduced mobility.
The Provincial Council has also allocated 90,689.50 Euros to dune system protection efforts, including the installation and replacement of buoys on 12 beaches in five municipalities, covering a total of 6,560 meters. Additionally, 2,430 meters of new rollable walkways, made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic, have been installed in ten municipalities, representing an investment of 136,038.71 Euros.
In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the provincial institution has acquired two new raking machines, with an investment of 153,350 Euros, and seven electric UTV vehicles to bolster coastal management tasks in various coastal municipalities. The acquisition of these vehicles amounted to an investment of 205,275 Euros.
“"We demonstrate the useful policy of the Provincial Council, a policy that improves services so that people can enjoy our beaches, which are not just a luxury, but also a right."
Vicent Mompó highlighted that, under the slogan 'La Mar de bé' (The Sea is Good), the beach campaign pursues "three fundamental objectives: to maintain our coasts in the best conditions, protect valuable spaces like dune systems, and ensure that anyone can enjoy the sea on equal terms".
Meanwhile, Avelino Mascarell indicated a focus on sustainable vehicles, "which we have allocated to municipalities with natural beaches for the maintenance of their entire dune system, ensuring more efficient and environmentally friendly management, while simultaneously providing good service to citizens".
In the same vein, the Deputy of Tourism, Pedro Cuesta, emphasized the need for sustainable tourism that protects the environment: "We are working along these lines to offer the best spaces and infrastructure to Valencians and tourists, while preserving natural areas for future generations." This project was open to all coastal municipalities in the province beyond the 16 that the Provincial Council typically supports.
