The Provincial Council of Valencia has approved a 20 million euro package in exceptional subsidies to strengthen the prevention of natural disasters in 261 municipalities of the province.

This initiative, promoted by the provincial executive, will allow town councils to allocate funds to both investments and current expenditure to face unforeseen situations, such as those experienced during the DANA in October 2024. The mechanism, similar to the Municipal Cooperation Fund, seeks to streamline procedures and allow each town to manage resources according to its specific needs.
Among the eligible actions are the updating of territorial emergency plans, the installation of hydrants, and the acquisition of heavy machinery, such as tractors, water pumps, and early fire detection systems. In addition, the plan includes training for municipal staff and Civil Protection, as well as the improvement of urban drainage infrastructure and the creation of self-protection spaces.
On the other hand, the institution has reinforced the Pla Obert with an additional 10 million euros to address strategic projects in large municipalities such as Torrent, Paterna, Gandia, Sagunto, and Valencia. This aid is in addition to a historic endowment of 350 million euros for towns with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
Finally, the Sports department has approved investments for the improvement of 'trinquet' courts and sports facilities in various locations, including actions in Vilamarxant, Godelleta, Alcàsser, Almussafes, and Gavarda. In parallel, a one-million-euro line has been activated to guarantee animal welfare in Valencian municipalities.
