The city of València is hosting from this Monday, May 20th, until June 28th, the performance of 'La Ternura', an acclaimed comedy by Alfredo Sanzol. The play, which received the Max Award for Best Theatrical Show in 2019, promises a blend of adventure, humor, magic, and emotion.
Directed by the Valencian Rebeca Valls, the piece draws inspiration from the tradition of great comedies by William Shakespeare, incorporating elements such as mistaken identities and magic. Influenced by titles like The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Twelfth Night, 'La Ternura' addresses, through humor, the fear of falling in love and associated suffering, as well as parental concerns for their children.
The plot begins with the shipwreck of Queen Emerald and her daughters on an island to escape arranged marriages. There, they encounter a woodsman and his sons, who had also chosen to distance themselves from women. From this point, situations of disguises, misunderstandings, and romantic entanglements unfold, forming a comedy of errors.
Beyond entertainment, the play reflects on the importance of sensitivity and the capacity for love in today's world. Alfredo Sanzol, current director of the National Dramatic Center, emphasizes that "without tenderness, love is unseen," advocating for tenderness as a form of resistance and an essential element in human relationships.
The theatrical production fosters complicity between the stage and the audience, creating a shared experience between actors and spectators. The cast includes Rebeca Valls / Laura Romero, Jordi Ballester, Diego Braguinsky, Paloma Vidal, Bruno Tamarit, and Paula Braguinsky. Laura Romero will perform on specific dates: May 30th and 31st, and from June 10th to 14th.
