The prestigious Lluna de València award has been granted to screenwriter and film and television creator Félix Sabroso. The festival's director, María Albiñana, highlighted his versatility in navigating between comedy and drama, as well as his unique voice and unmistakable style, which have established him as a benchmark filmmaker in Spain. According to the Generalitat, Sabroso embodies the festival's spirit and is a role model for its official sections.
This year, Cinema Jove emphasizes both established and emerging talent. Consequently, the Un Futur de Cinema award has been given to actress Priscilla Delgado. Albiñana underscored Delgado's ability to bring depth to her characters and imbue them with their own identity, making her one of the promising young talents in today's audiovisual scene. The festival is committed to supporting her growth and international projection.
Another notable novelty is the festival's alliance with the Film Academy's Summer Campus, held in València since 2023 in collaboration with Netflix and with the support of the València City Council. As part of this collaboration, a special screening of Yo no moriré de amor, the directorial debut of Marta Matute, will take place at the Filmoteca on Monday, June 22nd. Following the screening, Matute and the director of the Film Academy, Fernando Méndez-Leite, will participate in a Q&A session.
This Q&A, presented by Jorge Gonzalo (ODA) and Jesús Blanquiño (Podium Podcast), will focus on the representation of non-normative bodies in contemporary fictional narratives. This initiative solidifies Cinema Jove and the Film Academy's Summer Campus as key spaces for debate and the construction of the audiovisual industry's future.
