The People's Party of the province of Valencia, led by Vicente Mompó, has organized an executive committee with a lunch for militants, which is expected to be attended by Alberto Núñez Feijóo. This will be Feijóo's first visit to Valencia since the state funeral for the victims of the dana flood. The event, to which over 1,200 people have confirmed their attendance, will also be attended by the current president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca.
The rally, to be held in Sueca, is anticipated as a show of strength for Vicente Mompó before the national leader. Although Génova (PP headquarters) appointed Pérez Llorca to lead the Valencian PP's caretaker committee, the candidate for the Generalitat has not yet been decided. The president of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Mompó, is gaining prominence as an alternative due to the lack of decisions.
Feijóo's visit carries added symbolism, as the congress to elect the Valencian PP president remains on hold. Internal sources suggest autumn as a possible date, but the lack of clarity regarding future leadership is causing unease. Furthermore, former president Francisco Camps has announced his intention to lead the project, which will require a vote from the party members.
Vicente Mompó has been working for years to strengthen the provincial party machinery, particularly since his name emerged as a potential successor to Mazón. Since then, the movements of the president of the Provincial Council of Valencia have accelerated, making him a significant counterweight to Pérez Llorca within the party.
Feijóo's presence is confirmed and represents a recognition of the provincial leader's work. The visit would only be canceled if the Government's judicial schedule forced him to change his plans.
