The initiative, promoted by the School Families Association (AFA), seeks to highlight the educational community's unrest regarding the management by the Department of Education. As explained, the action will consist of an overnight stay at the school including an assembly, a banner-making workshop, and the reading of a manifesto, with the active participation of some of the teaching staff.
Parents point out that the school suffers from serious structural problems, such as classrooms exceeding 30 degrees during hot months and bathrooms that have not been renovated since the school opened in 1987. Furthermore, they criticize the lack of an elevator, which hinders access for students with reduced mobility, and the location of the kindergarten restrooms outside the classrooms.
On the other hand, the AFA has denounced the cuts in teaching staff for kindergarten and the failure to cover leaves, such as the music teacher position, which has been vacant for over two months. They have also warned about the reduction of resources for students with special educational needs.
“"Families are standing with the teachers and share a large part of the demands raised by the teaching staff."
During the event, a resistance fund will be set up to financially help teachers who are supporting the strike and have seen their salaries reduced. The organization has called on other schools in Valencia to join these initiatives and demand a dignified public school system with adequate conditions.
