The Centre Cultural La Nau of the University of Valencia hosts the 39th edition of the Serenates festival from June 20 to July 2, featuring 12 concerts spanning various musical genres.

The Serenates festival returns to the cloister of the Centre Cultural La Nau of the Universitat de València (UV) for its 39th edition, running from June 20 to July 2. The program will bring together 12 concerts with offerings in classical music, jazz, pop, flamenco, film-concerts, and other contemporary genres. This event, co-produced by the UV and the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), is consolidated as one of the city's longest-standing cultural and musical events.
Conceived to promote music composed and performed by Valencian artists, the festival has found its ideal stage in the cloister of the University's historic building. Since its early editions, Serenates has enjoyed sustained public response, with sold-out venues endorsing its proposal. The program maintains a firm commitment to Valencian creation, emerging talent, university ensembles, stylistic diversity, and the incorporation of new artistic proposals, without compromising the rigor and excellence that have built its prestige.
The event is sponsored by the Diputació de València and the Ajuntament de València (València Music City). Cultural entities such as the Palau de la Música de València, the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València, and the Fundació General de la Universitat de València will also collaborate.
Serenates 2026 will advance its start date to June 20, coinciding with Fête de la Musique. The opening will be led by the Orquestra de València, conducted by Alexander Liebreich with pianist Mao Fujita as soloist, performing works by Mozart and Martín i Soler. Valencian pianist Elena Font will present 'Els somnis de Ravel' on June 21, a recital commemorating the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, which will also engage with Debussy and Falla.
On June 24, the Orquestra Filharmònica de la Universitat de València will present 'Fanfàrries per a rituals i litúrgies', combining symphonic music and live lighting design. On June 25, Christina Rosenvinge will perform in a trio format to present 'Los versos sáficos', reinterpreting Sappho's poems through contemporary pop. On June 26, the film-concert 'Les aventures del príncep Achmed' will screen Lotte Reiniger's film with live music composed and performed by Jorge Gil Zulueta, Paco Alonso, and an instrumental ensemble.
The weekend program includes on June 27, in a morning session with free admission, the inclusive dance-theater proposal 'Descalços' by the company Entrelazados. That same day, at 10:00 PM, the Orfeó Universitari de València will offer '(No) Res?', featuring contemporary choral music and the premiere of 'Calix maudit' by Joan Gómez-Alemany.
On June 28, jazz and flamenco will meet in 'Roneando', Perico Sambeat's project with his Quintet Flamenco. On June 29, the Banda Simfònica Unió Musical l’Horta de Sant Marcel·lí will perform 'Ecos de l’horta i la metròpoli', in collaboration with the Certamen Internacional de Bandes Ciutat de València.
The women's choir A cau d’orella will celebrate its 20th anniversary on June 30 with 'Dona i veu: 20 anys cantant'. On July 1, Tonina will perform, fusing jazz, soul, and Latin American music. The festival's closing, on July 2, will feature 'Passió barroca' by Harmonia del Parnàs, an interdisciplinary production of baroque music and dance.
General admission tickets will cost 5 euros and will be available from June 2 on latenda.net and at La Tenda del Centre Cultural La Nau. Tickets for the opening concert can be purchased on the Palau de la Música website and at its box office. The 'Descalços' performance will have free admission.
The poster for the XXXIX edition, designed by Samuel Llopis Alonso, a student at EASD València, represents the concept "from within" with visual lines symbolizing sound emerging from the building.
