The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània in Valencia is bringing its ‘Encuentros en el Carme’ cycle to an end this Friday, June 19, 2026, before the summer break. It does so with a free, open-access musical event that will transport the audience to some of the most memorable decades of national and international pop-rock.
The event takes place at 7:00 PM in the Gothic cloister of the Centre del Carme, a historic space where the Valencian group La Banda del Pop will perform as part of their ‘Ochéntame’ tour, presenting a show that revisits some of the greatest hits of the 80s. The planned repertoire includes songs by popular groups and artists such as A-ha, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Deacon Blue, Nacha Pop, and Tino Casal.
The Valencian ensemble comprises musicians linked to bands and projects like Revólver, Los Inhumanos, Ciudad Jara, and Jaime Urrutia. On stage will be Diego de Antonio (keyboards), Vicente Marín (guitar), Quique López (vocals), Javi Sevilla (drums), and Alfred Lorente (bass), with the collaboration of saxophonist Juanjo Martín.
Founded in 2006, La Banda del Pop specializes in reinterpreting pop classics from the 1980s and 1990s, becoming one of the most recognized Valencian groups on the cover band circuit. Among their projects is ‘La movida valenciana’, a show focused on the music that defined a generation.
This concert marks the temporary conclusion of the ‘Encuentros en el Carme’ cycle, which in recent months has hosted various musical performances and tributes at the Centre del Carme.
