National Police agents have arrested six minors and one adult woman in Valencia, members of a criminal group allegedly dedicated to robbing vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and children, with great aggression in the Tránsitos district. The detainees used electric scooters to approach victims and flee quickly, hindering their identification.
As detailed by the security force, the gang selected victims based on their particular vulnerability, assaulting them suddenly from behind. The investigation began following several complaints of violent robberies. Investigators detected that the assailants acted with their heads covered to avoid identification and fled swiftly.
The criminal group had perfected its technique, meticulously selecting victims and directing their attacks primarily against the elderly and minors, from whom they stole valuables such as jewelry, money, or mobile phones. These individuals had virtually no capacity to react, and could not provide a physical description of the perpetrators due to the element of surprise and the speed of the scooters.
On one occasion, three of the perpetrators even used wooden sticks to assault a man in the street, causing him numerous blows and fractures that required hospitalization. The suspects, who had already committed similar crimes, used to gather at specific meeting points to carry out the robberies.
After five months of investigation, the National Police managed to identify the alleged perpetrators and proceed with the arrest of the seven young people. Three of them are charged with attempted homicide. The six minors have been ordered to be placed in supervised centers, and investigations remain open.
